At Eagle Eye, we have always thought the SAT and ACT were pretty silly; they kind of remind us of the poem by A.E. Houseman “Terrence, this is stupid stuff.” However, they were/are an important metric that helps colleges to somehow sort through the thousands of applications they needed. Well, the SAT is changing again. As of 2024, the test will be two hours and online. The reading passages will be shorter. Calculators will be allowed on all math problems; the current section where calculators are not allowed is cataclysmically dumb. There are a lot of important details to be revealed. Expect a lot of authoritative opining to take place without a lot of actual knowledge. None of this affects current students. We are keeping our powder dry until more information is revealed. In the meantime, don’t worry about this. We’ll keep you posted. Instead, take a walk today. It’s going to be pretty!
