Eagle Eye Tutoring is proud to partner with the Mt. Zion-Female Union Band Historic Memorial Park for our Headstones and History course. By designating the Mt. Zion-Female Union Band Historic Memorial Park as your preferred Amazon Smile charity, you can support the preservation of two of the oldest Black cemeteries in Georgetown. Your holiday shopping can help Mt. Zion preserve and honor these sacred African American burial grounds in Georgetown, Washington DC (active 1809-1950), which also served as a stop on the Underground Railroad for freedom seekers.

Donations received through Amazon Smile fund restorative cleaning, mending, and remounting of historic grave markers, such as Matilda Cartwright, the granddaughter of Rev. Joseph Cartwright, Sr. one of the first Black pastors of Mt Zion UMC (both interred in the Mt Zion/ Female Union Band Society Cemeteries). Rev. Cartwright, was a former slave who bought the freedom of his wife and four children, taking him almost twenty years to purchase them all (1823 – 1841).

There is less than a month of holiday shopping remaining, but you can support Mt. Zion-Female Union Band Historic Memorial Park year-round when you shop via Amazon Smile
