Goodbye, ciao, adios, and good riddance! The College Board announced that they will no longer administer SAT Subject Tests and the SAT with Essay. If you have registered for a Subject Test this spring, your registration will be canceled and you will receive a refund. The last administration of SAT with Essay will be in June 2021.
Why is The College Board doing this now? At Eagle Eye, we can’t help but think this is an attempt to save the AP Franchise. In a blog post, The College Board writes, “Weāve continued to enrich and expand access to AP courses, which let students showcase their skills through challenging coursework. Many colleges already use AP course participation and exam score as indicators of a studentās ability and interest in a particular subject area.”
Now that The College Board has abolished the SAT with Essay, will the ACT follow suit? Time will tell. For now, it’s “So long, Subject Tests and SAT with Essay.”
