Thanks to the St. Albans’ 7th and 8th grade history classes and to Dr. Schiller and Mr. MacIntyre for inviting us to examine the antebellum, Reconstruction, and post WWI world of African Americans in Washington, DC. By investigating the remarkable lives of some of those interred in Georgetown’s Mt. Zion/FUBS Cemetery, we were able to turn the past into the personal.
In this weekend’s Washington Post, there was an article about a child interred in Georgetown’s Mt. Zion Female Union Band Society Cemetery.
