The Method to SAT Madness

The scientific method is so powerful because it provides an intellectual map for those seeking to understand the world in which we live. Similarly, there are clear steps you should take on each section of this Saturday’s SAT. In the Reading passages, read actively and well. The majority of passages will be pretty interesting, so find something in them that’s cool. Underline information. Circle names and terms. Process of elimination is key. The correct is not necessarily good, but it’s not wrong. In the writing section, read the passages well. Follow the rules on questions involving punctuation. For questions in which you have different forms of the same verb, go find the subject. For pronouns, go find the antecedent. In the math, tackle the free response questions first, then hook around and start with number 1. Read the questions well, and do not skip steps.
